ABOUT ME

The Joy of Reading and the Power of Learning

Reading has always been one of my greatest passions. It opens the door to imagination, strengthens focus, and lays the foundation for lifelong learning. I believe that when students experience the joy of reading, they gain not only academic skills but also confidence in themselves as learners.

As a reading specialist, I bring together my background in educational therapy, English and creative writing, and special education to provide thoughtful, individualized instruction. My approach is rooted in understanding each student’s unique strengths and needs, ensuring that learning is both effective and engaging.

I specialize in working with elementary students with learning differences, including ADHD, dyslexia, and other processing challenges, providing targeted support to help them succeed.

I am especially committed to supporting students who experienced learning disruptions during the pandemic—challenges that continue to impact many learners today. My goal is to help students rebuild skills, close learning gaps, and, most importantly, rediscover their confidence and love of learning.

At Right Brain Tutor, I strive to create a supportive, encouraging, and even joyful environment where every student can grow, succeed, and feel proud of their progress.

Specialized Tutoring

Not all tutors are trained to support students with learning differences. These students require specialized instruction and individualized approaches to meet their unique needs and truly help them succeed.

My training in educational therapy, special education, and literacy instruction enables me to address a wide range of learning challenges effectively. I break complex concepts into clear, manageable steps so students can build strong foundational skills and develop confidence in their abilities.

My approach goes beyond traditional tutoring by providing personalized instruction tailored to each child’s developmental level, learning style, and specific needs. Every session is designed to be both effective and engaging.

I also carefully monitor each student’s progress and provide clear, consistent communication with families. Parents are an essential part of the learning process, and I prioritize collaboration by sharing updates and strategies to support continued growth at home.

My goal is to equip students with the skills they need to succeed while fostering confidence, independence, and a lasting love of learning

Customized Learning Plan

My training allows me to support exceptional learners in developing strong, confident reading skills. I use the PRIDE Reading Program, based on the Orton-Gillingham structured literacy approach, which incorporates a proven multisensory method tailored to each child’s unique learning profile.

Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I design individualized lessons based on your child’s developmental level, strengths, and areas of need. Each session is thoughtfully planned to build foundational skills while keeping students engaged and motivated.

I provide engaging, age-appropriate instruction in a supportive online setting, fostering a creative, collaborative learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and growing as readers.

Together, we will support your child’s path to literacy success—building not only skills, but confidence and a lifelong love of learning.

PRIDE READING PROGRAM The ORTON-GILLINGHAM METHOD OF READING INSTRUCTION

The PRIDE Reading Program is based on the Orton-Gillingham approach, a research-based method specifically designed to teach struggling and non-readers how to read, write, spell, and comprehend. While it benefits all learners, it is especially effective for students with dyslexia, auditory and visual processing challenges, speech and language delays, and other learning differences.

This program focuses on teaching one skill at a time, allowing students to practice until they achieve accuracy, automaticity, and fluency. Building skills in a structured way helps eliminate gaps in decoding and creates a strong, lasting foundation for reading success.
Lessons are carefully structured and sequential.

Students master each concept before moving forward, while previously learned skills are consistently reviewed and reinforced to support long-term retention.
This thoughtful, step-by-step approach helps students build confidence, develop independence, and achieve meaningful, lasting literacy growth.

What is Structured Literacy?

Effective structured literacy instruction includes several essential components that work together to build strong reading and writing skills:

  • Phonology – understanding the sounds in spoken language
  • Sound-Symbol Association – connecting sounds to letters and letter patterns
  • Syllable Instruction – learning how words are broken into syllables
  • Morphology – understanding word parts such as prefixes, suffixes, and roots
  • Syntax – understanding sentence structure and grammar
  • Semantics – developing meaning and vocabulary

In addition to these language components, structured literacy is:

  • Systematic – taught in a clear, logical sequence
  • Cumulative – new skills build on previously learned concepts
  • Explicit – directly taught rather than assumed
  • Diagnostic – instruction is continuously adjusted based on student progress

This comprehensive, research-based approach ensures that students develop strong foundational skills, leading to lasting reading success and increased confidence.
